Allen Smith
Corporate Controller
Experience
Allen began his career as a staff accountant at Neff Machinery, Inc. in Miami, FL, where he assisted the controller and payroll supervisor with all accounting department responsibilities. He then spent a year at the CPA firm of Morrison, Brown, Argiz, and Farra, LLP handling various auditors of both profit and non-profit organizations.
Allen subsequently returned to Neff Machinery, first as an assistant controller (1991-1996) and later as the company’s internal audit and inventory manager (1996-2000). While serving as assistant controller, he oversaw daily accounting operations, reviewed the detailed general ledger journal, and prepared financial statements.
In 1996, Allen was charged with the company’s smooth transition when it came under new ownership and changed its name to Nortrax Equipment Company. In his new role as internal audit and inventory manager, he supervised the company’s daily accounting, inventory, and general operations.
Allen developed and implemented an internal controls system and standardized accounting and operations procedures. He also participated in the development of financial and operations reports used to obtain capital funding to acquire several million dollars in additional inventory.
In 2001, Allen accepted the assistant controller position at The Related Group in Miami, FL. There, he supervised and coordinated the daily accounting operations for several companies under the corporate umbrella. He oversaw the success of the construction, development, and property management divisions.
From 2006-2009, Allen served as corporate controller for Adrian Development Group in Miami. At this post, he continued overseeing accounting operations in addition to coordinating efforts to build model homes and developing financial models used to help secure $25 million in private equity for the firm.
In 2009, Allen accepted the position of corporate controller for Fortune International Group in Miami. During this time, he became increasingly involved in coordinating construction information requirements and reviewing contractor applications.
Allen also leads the accounting department responsible for construction projects, corporate real estate brokerage, and development accounting.
Education
Allen graduated from the incredibly prestigious College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA, with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Accounting.
He later earned his MBA in Business Administration and Management from Nova Southeastern University in Miami, FL. He is fluent in both English and Spanish.

Allen brings over 25 years of invaluable experience to helping steer Vaster. His specialties include litigation support, competitive analysis, construction planning, real estate development, and more. As a controller, Allen works on everything from daily accounting operations to complex financial modeling and budgeting. He also focuses on cash forecasting and coordinates communication and reports for projects.
